HIGHS AND LOWS

McDonald’s is experiencing turbulent times at the moment, with several major developments being implemented throughout the brand internationally.

Following the news of McDonald’s USA CEO Steve Easterbrook being let go, another senior role will need filling after chief people officer David Fairhurst also left the company. This is the third top executive to leave McDonald’s since the middle of the year. Upon Easterbrook’s departure, his severance package was also announced, totalling at least US$675,000. Contractually, Easterbrook is banned from working for a competitor for at least two years.

In other news, McDonald’s is celebrating the launch of its first-ever ghost kitchen. Based in London, the takeaway-only restaurant represents McDonald’s testing different restaurant formats. Customers will be able to see that their food was made in the ghost kitchen as opposed to a regular store when they order.
