HAWKER & ROLL COMING TO QUEENSTOWN

Hawker & Roll, fast-casual spin off to sister restaurant Madam Woo, is opening its doors in Queenstown this month. The first Hawker & Roll restaurant opened at THE GROVE at Sylvia Park in Auckland in December, and has since been an instant success. Co-owners Fleur Caulton and Chef Josh Emett are excited to continue to grow this new brand with the Queenstown restaurant opening.

“Fast-casual is an emerging space in New Zealand, and we’re thrilled to play a bigger part in the industry, with the expansion of Hawker & Roll to Queenstown,” said Caulton. “It’s really special for us to be able to bring the vibrant and colourful energy that Madam Woo is known for to a new location.”

Together, Caulton and Emett own seven other restaurants in New Zealand, including Rata, an award-winning space located in the heart of Queenstown, and iterations of the Madam Woo brand, across both the North and South Islands. Hawker & Roll will be the third restaurant in Queenstown, with Madam Woo Queenstown and Rata both regarded as two of the best restaurants in New Zealand.

“With Hawker & Roll we’re bringing Malaysian-inspired street eats to a fast-casual setting,” said Emett. “In addition to a variety of healthy and delicious salads and sides available (think: steamed dumplings and sui mai, Malaysian nasi lemak and Vietnamese rice noodle salad) we have seven different kinds of hawker rolls on the menu, including pulled sticky pork, roast duck and hoisin, and chicken laksa, plus a vegan option: soy and sesame eggplant.”

Caulton and Emett are eager to continue to offer the same high-quality food to diners who are in a rush, or looking for better-for-you takeaway options. To accommodate the quick-style of service and fast turn over expected, Hawker & Roll has launched its own app that offers loyalty capabilities and order ahead options. Diners will be able to place orders in advance, pay through the app, and pick up orders at their convenience.
