GREEN FIBRE BOTTLE PROTOTYPE

Following an ambitious three-year project, Carlsberg has revealed a physical prototype of its Green Fibre Bottle. The design was unveiled in front of business leaders at the Sustainable Brands 2016 Conference in Copenhagen.

It was reported in January last year that Carlsberg partnered with Danish packaging company EcoXpac to develop a beer bottle made from sustainably sourced wood fibre.

Although the prototype has a way to go before its roll out, it is a great way to demonstrate how innovation and design can shape products of the future to consumers.

The challenges ahead include further developing the impulse drying technology that will be the cornerstone in creating a wood-fibre mould, as well as creating fully biodegradable caps, coatings, inks and binders.
