Golding plans new wine bar

A new wine bar and boutique hotel is planned for Wellington, run by prominent hospitality figure Sean Golding.

Golding, owner of craft beer bar Golding’s Free Dive and neighbouring restaurant Shepherd is building his new hotel The Intrepid on a historic Wellington site. The building was formerly used as a general office and warehouse for Cadbury. It was constructed from 1908-1909 and has largely maintained its original façade.

The hotel is set to open in August once the earthquake strengthening on the existing building is completed.  The Intrepid will also run a natural wine bar called The Puffin on the property’s ground floor. The bar is expected to open in four to five weeks from now.
