The winners of the 2019 Westpac New Zealand Franchise Awards have been announced. This year’s top franchise system in the awards was Pukeko Rental Managers, with Coffee Club Takanini being named Supreme Franchisee of the Year.
The Coffee Club Takanini was opened in 2013 by Sarith Thong and his wife, Helen Lim. The couple had previously owned a few lunch bars but felt as though a move to a franchise would suit them better. After achieving success in Takanini, they also took over The Coffee Club outlet at the Manukau Supa Centre this year.
New Zealand’s franchising industry now exceeds $27 billion with a turnover equivalent to 11 percent of the GDP. New Zealand is the most franchised country in the world.
This year marked the 25th celebration of the Westpac New Zealand Franchise Awards. They aim to recognise the franchise systems and individual franchisees who have found success.
All areas were represented in this year’s awards, with award-winning businesses ranging from cafes to cobblers.
