Travel planning and booking site TripAdvisor has announced its Travellers’ Choice awards for top restaurants around the world with The French Café taking the top spot for New Zealand for the second year in a row.
This year’s awards recognise 528 restaurants overall, including the top 25 fine dining in the world and dedicated lists for each country. This year, TripAdvisor also awarded some of the best cheap eats dining establishments around the world.
“Awards like these help to communicate to the rest of the world the strength of New Zealand’s food culture,” said chief executive of the Restaurant Association of NZ Marisa Bidois.
Other restaurants that made the list were Hopgoods Nelson, Clooney, Hippopotamus, Rata, Botswana Butchery and Mission Restaurant. New Zealand’s top cheap eat was Ali Baba’s Tunisian Takeaways in Rotorua.
