Foxes Island Wines releases Ma Chérie, a late harvest Riesling

Foxes Island Wines and legendary winemaker John Belsham have released Ma Chérie, Foxes Island’s first late harvest Riesling.

Belsham said, “2018 was a wonderful growing season in the Awatere; however, the ‘weather events’ during harvest meant quickly changing tack. The fruit was beautiful, so we took the opportunity to produce a Spätlese style with wonderful richness, phenolic structure and balanced acidity that is refreshing and simply delicious.”

Only 78 cases have been produced and will be sold directly to Foxes Island’s clients from the Cellar Door, as well as online and in fine restaurants.

Foxes Island was founded in 1992 by French-trained Belsham and was one of the first to produce single vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in New Zealand.
