FLOATING RESTAURANT GROUNDED FOR NOW

The much-anticipated Dinner in the Sky, which was set to arrive in Auckland for three weeks over November and December, has been postponed. Dinner in the Sky, and international concept which has taken place over major cities in Europe, was set to make its Auckland debut but industrial action at Sydney Harbour meant that 57 containers of essential equipment were stranded in Australia and wouldn’t make it in time.

"We have never had to postpone or cancel an event before, but unfortunately, the industrial action at Sydney port was totally out of our control," Events in the Sky director Steve Chung said in a statement. "We are as committed as ever to bringing Dinner in the Sky to New Zealand, and appreciate everyone's continued enthusiasm for the Dinner in the Sky experience."

Chung added that the company has every intention of bringing the restaurant to Auckland in 2018, most likely late summer or early autumn.
