Staff from KFC, Carl’s Junior and Pizza Hut are set to strike this weekend amidst disputes with their employer, Restaurant Brands. The strike begins at 2 pm today and will continue until Monday morning. The strike is being organised by the Unite Union members, who said that out of 763 staff who voted for strike action, 88 percent were in favour.
According to Gerard Hehir, Union spokesperson, the decision to strike comes following cuts to pay margins and overtime, as well as unsafe staffing levels. Hehir also said that the pressure put on Restaurant Brands would hopefully be sufficient to incite changes—especially surrounding staffing levels inside stores as well as break regulations.
