Sweet treats from Sweet Dreams.

Led by Heart of the City, Auckland’s city centre will play host to six mouth-watering dining experiences this August as a part of American Express Restaurant Month. August is sure to be an exciting culinary occasion, with over 100 restaurants taking part through special set-menus, as well as the six new one-night-only events. Throughout the city, unique food experiences will be highlighted through a variety of options and events, from an afternoon of craft beer and food matching to a freshly foraged dinner.

           Heart of the City chief executive Viv Beck, said, “The variety and calibre of the events on offer in August is a reflection of the city centre’s diverse dining scene. Whether you’re a gourmet food connoisseur or simply curious about different cuisines, these special dining events are the perfect excuse to get together with friends and experience new tastes, cooking techniques and international flavours.”

The six highlighted events are as follows:

Sweet Dreams (Friday 2nd August): A 6-course decadent degustation menu will be taking over DeBretts Kitchen and bringing us mouth-wateringly good sweet treats.

A Behemoth Day Out on Federal Street (17th August): Experience six great brews from Behemoth paired with glorious food designed by the kitchen teams at HUAMI, Gusto at the Grand and Bellota by Peter Gordon.

Foraged (23rd August): Seasoned forager Riki Bennett of Te Arawa and Ngāti Porou descent is collaborating with James Beck of Hawkes Bay’s two-hatted Bistronomy and Mark Southon of O’Connell Street Bistro to bring us an exquisite 5-course dinner made with freshly foraged ingredients.

Fire Me Up (24th August): Skilled chefs behind Glass Goose will be serving up a selection of flame-grilled treats, while party-goers dance the night away.

In The Pink at Harbourside (25th August): Harbourside Ocean Bar Grill will be putting an exciting twist on a luscious Sunday seafood lunch – pairing several exquisite varietals of wine of the moment, rosé, to each fresh seafood course.

#LuxeLife (31st August): Starting with the elegance of Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Hotel and later being chauffeured by Aston Martins to SO/Auckland Hotel, guests get a taste of the finest wine and canapés at Auckland’s most stylish and exclusive locations.
