CAT CAFÉ A SUCCESS

The Southland SPCA has claimed that Invercargill is ready for a cat café after the success of a pop-up edition over the weekend.

"The atmosphere was fantastic,” said SPCA Southland inspector Jenny MacDonald. “Everyone enjoyed themselves and the cats did so well, they were tired towards the end, but it was really positive vibes. It's shown that Invercargill is ready for something like this. It was really good and there were big lines outside."

If a permanent café were to happen, MacDonald said, it would require more cats. Of the five present at the pop-up, two were adopted on the day.
