CALL FOR ENTRIES: SENIOR LIFESTYLE CUISINE COMPETITION

Chefs who work in the Aged Care sector are being invited to show case their talents at this year’s Senior Lifestyle Cuisine Competition. Set within the NZ Chefs 2018 Hospitality Championships, the live kitchen cook-off pits competitors against one another and the clock as they prepare eight covers of a main dish, intended for the aged care market, in just 75 minutes.

A team of top industry judges mark competitors and their dishes against a tough WorldChefs judging standard which includes criteria ranging from food preparation, taste and presentation through to professional practice. Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to entrants, depending on their final score.

All entrants will receive a carton of Independent Fisheries Hoki Loin, Naturalaz Beef Cheek and Bidfood account credit so they can perfect their dishes in advance of the competition. The winner and their workplace also receive a prize pack which includes equipment, products and vouchers from the competition sponsors: Bidfood, Independent Fisheries, Nestlé Professional, ServiceIQ and vegetables.co.nz.

Last year’s winner, Chef Rodney Phillips from Elderslea Rest Home in Upper Hutt is set to return to the event this year, however, not as a competitor but as a trainer for other Oceania Healthcare entrants.

The Senior Lifestyle Cuisine Competition takes place on Sunday 12 August at the ASB Showgrounds.
