CAGE-FREE DIRECTORY

New Zealand has launched its first cage-free egg directory, listing those who have and haven’t produced a cage-free policy. The directory, launched by animal rights organisation SAFE, will allow Kiwis to make the right choice when it comes to buying eggs. The catalogue will detail businesses across New Zealand with specific information regarding their policy and the use of eggs sourced from caged hens.

New Zealand supermarkets have said that they are aiming to go cage-free, as well as some of the country’s largest food suppliers, including Bidfood and Service Foods. Additionally, many of the nation’s top restaurants and cafés are heading towards a cage-free future, as well.

The directory can be found here.
