The Roadhouse, a café in Byron Bay is offering a smoothie that contains colostrum, the first milk produced from the mammary glands of mammals post-birth. The smoothie consists of colostrum, blended with coconut water, and is sold for $8.
The Roadhouse claims that the milk is of nutritional benefits, advertising it as “liquid gold” and “immune milk”. Initial reactions were mixed, especially before the café exposed that they were using cow milk, and not breast milk from a human.
As one person wrote on the Roadhouse Facebook page, “Each to their own.”
