BUG-ONLY MENU

A restaurant in Cape Town, South Africa is pushing the boundaries of alternative food sources, with a completely bug-infused menu. The Insect Experience which opened earlier this month is looking to promote and encourage the consumption of alternate and sustainable protein sources.

Although there are already traditional bug-snacks in Southern Africa, the most famous of which are Mopane worms, The Insect Experience is expanding upon this. The bugs are bred by two local farmers and are delivered directly to the restaurant.

Some of the meals on the menu include Mopane worm polenta fries, black fly larvae chickpea croquettes paired with Mopane hummus, and topped with a dash of mealworms.
