Two of the biggest fast-food chains in the world are battling it out for breakfast.
In a clear move to disrupt Wendy’s U.S national breakfast launch, McDonald’s is giving away its iconic breakfast sandwich on the same day. McDonald’s is declaring the 2nd of March 'National Egg McMuffin Day'.
“While we’re giving the Egg McMuffin its moment, we’re really honouring our breakfast fans who have woken up with McDonald’s breakfast for nearly 50 years. And we just thought, why not declare March 2 as National Egg McMuffin Day?” David Tovar, vice president of U.S. Communications, said in a statement.
The Egg McMuffin is largely credited for making the chain’s breakfast menu one of the most popular among fast-food fans.
Wendy’s morning menu features nine items and is being trialled in select stores across the United States.
