THE MOUNTAIN CAFÉ COOKBOOK: A KIWI IN THE CAIRNGORMS

The Mountain Café Cookbook: A Kiwi in the Cairngorms is the debut cookbook from chef and café owner Kirsten Gilmour. The Mountain Café in the remote Cairngorms National Park in northern Scotland has long been a favourite for locals, tourists, bikers and climbers, and now Gilmour, an expat Kiwi, is sharing her recipes for all.

The Mountain Café Cookbook includes more than 130 recipes, from nutritious breakfasts to flavourful and inventive salads and luxurious desserts and sweets. Standouts include Sloe Gin and Bramble Salmon salad, Cider Sage Barbecue Chicken and the Badass Brownies.

As well as café favourites, Gilmour shares her culinary history – originally from the small Canterbury town of Temuka, she worked as a chef in London before trading in the hectic cosmopolitan life for the quiet hills of Aviemore. The Mountain Café Cookbook: A Kiwi in the Cairngorms is as much biography as it is cookbook, and Gilmour’s conversational yet straight-talking tone will make it easy for anyone to recreate her dishes.
