BLENHEIM CBD MAKEOVER UNDERWAY

Construction on Blenheim’s long-awaited ‘Marlborough Mile’ is finally underway, with the revamped CBD set to celebrate Marlborough’s history of food production and other key industries. Blenheim Business Association chair Lynette Rayner said that the construction was all part of a wider plan to promote Blenheim and Marlborough as a whole.

"We need to keep making our spaces more inviting so this is part of that process,” she said. “Making town attractive for people to come in to. It's the beginning of the process.”

The Marlborough Mile was first proposed in February 2017 by the Blenheim Business Association. It is set to celebrate the region’s history, major features and industries – particularly wine and aquaculture.

The shopping square and clock tower will be closed off for six weeks during the first phase of construction.
