Behemoth Brewing’s final push

Behemoth Brewing enters the final 11 days of its crowdfunding push for $1.5 million. So far, Behemoth sits around $1 million, but a further $500,000 is needed, or they receive nothing. Head brewer, Andrew Childs, is calling on New Zealand to help him secure his award-winning beer a fulltime home.

In the last six years, Behemoth has come a long way. According to the PledgeMe page, “It has gone from doing a 1,200 litre brew once every few months, to brewing more than 530,000 litres of beer in the last year. This means someone drinks a pint of Behemoth every 30 seconds, somewhere in the world.” The website also talks about the PledgeMe campaign being a way that supporters and beer enthusiasts can be a part of the Behemoth story.

The money from the crowdfunding campaign is going towards the construction of ‘Churly’s’, Behemoth’s brewpub with a difference. “It will offer all the usual things you would expect from Behemoth and a tap room; a welcoming local place for a casual Behemoth beer, a place to bring out-of-towners to do tasting and tours, and a place to buy a few beers for takeaway to drink at home. But, it will be something different from your usual craft beer tap room with the addition of a food and beer matching restaurant.”

“The restaurant will focus on a nose-to-tail menu that will be supplied by our onsite butchery. We feel that this sustainable and low waste dining experience with a true focus on food and beer matching will be an exciting addition to the Auckland food scene.”

All things going according to plan, Behemoth’s brew space is looking to open in November of this year. To get involved in Behemoth’s campaign, please visit the PledgeMe page.
