BANGKOK GETS MICHELIN GUIDE

Michelin has released its first guide for Bangkok, featuring almost 100 restaurants. Three restaurants were awarded two stars in the Michelin Guide Bangkok 2018 – Gaggan, Le Normandie and Mezzaluna. Also on the list was cult-street-food vendor Jay Fai, with the 70 year old chef renowned for her crab omelettes and drunken noodles being just the third street food vendor to be awarded a Michelin star.

International director in charge of the Michelin Guides Michael Ellis said, “We are proud to launch this first selection of the guide dedicated to Bangkok, highlighting the richness of the city’s gastronomy,” said Michael Ellis, international director in charge of the Michelin Guides. “Our inspectors were thrilled to find a local culinary scene with an amazing vibrancy, myriad new restaurants, an astonishing variety of wonderful street food, but also Thai cuisine served in different forms.”
