Australian KFC going for a Michelin star

Sam Edelman, the owner of a KFC franchise in Alice Springs, Australia, is attempting to get a Michelin Star. The KFC in Alice Springs is unique in a way—it’s around 1200 kilometres away from the nearest KFC, making it the most remote KFC in the world according to Edelman.

Edelman created a Facebook page through which he has been advertising his journey on his quest for stardom. Earlier today, Edelman announced via his Facebook page that KFC is flying him to Paris to campaign for their deserved star. He said, “I HAVE EXCITING NEWS. I announced on the radio this morning that KFC is flying me to Paris. We figured that Michelin couldn’t ignore me if I was right on their doorstep. Wish me luck.”

Whether or not Edelman believed that he would actually acquire the star, his efforts are unparalleled. On June 25th, he said, “Thanks everyone for getting behind me and supporting me. This has blown up way bigger than I ever expected. I’ve been having phone calls and interviews from media all over Australia and the world. Surely Michelin are going to hear about this soon.”

While the idea of KFC getting a Michelin star is gaining popularity, it is unlikely to follow through. Currently, Michelin does not publish a guide in Australia, nor does it incorporate Australian restaurants in its rating system. This, however, is not slowing Edelman, who set the Facebook group's description as “Technically we meet the criteria…so let’s just see how we go!”
