Antipodes causing a splash

The Grounds of Alexandria is well known for its fresh produce and homestyle food, but a bottle of Antipodes water has Australians all riled up after being listed on a menu for $10, despite it being a standard restaurant mark-up for the premium brand.

Once again a disgruntled social media user has taken to the internet to voice their displeasure, posting the image to Facebook along with the caption “You’ve got to be kidding me Sydney?”

However, the café responded quickly, saying it was "amazing that people have nothing better to do with their time" than complain about water.

“Cry me a river (of antipodes pure artesian water) is what I would say first of all, I guess if you want a bottle of this ritzy brew you're really going to have to splash out,” said a representative for the café. “For those who don't want to pay for water, we recommend you tap out (if you know what I mean). We have tap water on offer in all of our venues.”

Some social media users also noted that as a premium brand, $10 was what you’d expect to pay.
